Mrs. Fowler's assignments

I can't believe another Friday has passed. The days seem to be whirling by. I am thankful to each who was prepared for class today. It makes my job easy when you are ready to learn.

7th/8th History: History was so nice today. The projects looked and sounded great.

Please remember that the Jones family will be with us on Tuesday. They will be talking about the spiritual life on the plantations and the ministry though music. They are going to share through music many of the Spirituals written during the time period. I think you will all love it.

****Please review you cards everyday in preparation for the test.

**** Make cards for following events in 1863:

March 1863 The First Conscription Act

March 1863 The Battle of Chancellorsville

May 1863 The Vicksburg Campaign

June - July 1863 The Gettysburg Campaign

November - December 1863 The Siege of Knoxville

**** Please plot each battle on your map.

On October 13 in class: Jeffrey and Jackson Miller will teach the Gettysburg Campaign.

Literature: Nice job on your discussion in class. Read Chapters 18-22 of Red Badge of Courage.

5th/6th History: We had a great day walking to the Secession House and sketching the house. I learned about each of you as artists!

Please do research with your parents on the following topics. Write one paragraph for each.

1. The Leadership of Robert E. Lee before and during the Civil War

2. Stonewall Jackson during the Civil War

3. The Battle of Gettysburg

4. The surrender of Lee
