Mrs. Fowler's assignments


Great Friday! Thank you all for your diligence.

Literature: Dinner and a movie at Mrs. Fowler's. Sunday at 6:30.
Please let me know if you have a problem getting here.
Read Chapters 1-4 of The Hiding Place.
Define words and answer questions on handout.

7th/8th History: You need to make sure that you have adequate notes.
You should have done about 8 hours of research and note taking.
Develop a thesis statement after your research.
Bring an outline to class on Tuesday. I need to know that you are ready to
write.

5th/6th History:Make cards for Chapters 26 and 27 of SOW.
Think of a possible project for the group.

Literature:
Sunday night ( February 28th) at 6;30 at Mrs. Fowler's! Dinner and Miracle at Midnight. I am very sorry that I had to cancel last week.
Complete research information on the Jews from scripture. ( handout)

7th/8th History:
I will be at the library tomorrow from 10 am until 11:15 am. If you need help, please find me there.
You need to complete three more hours of research for your paper.
Create a broad statement that can be used as a thesis statement for your paper.
Please make sure that your research is supporting your thesis.

5th/6th History: Read Chapter 28 in SOW.

Dear Literature Students,

I am so sorry that I have had to postpone our "dinner and a movie" event. I will reschedule soon!

Literature: Using " A Scratch on the Nose" as a guide, write a story using 50 words or less.
Bring A Hiding Place to class.

7th/8th History: Narrow topic and begin research and notes for your paper.
Your notes will be checked and should reflect 2 hours of work.
Please keep your specs and MLA information in your notebook.
Please do not procrastinate with this work. You must keep the
time schedule to complete the paper on time.

5th/6th History: Read Chapter 27 of SOW.
Quiz on last 18 states and capitals.

7th/8th History: Make your list of 10 similarities and 10 differences between Stalin and Hitler. Please keep this in your notebook for the beginning of your research.

Literature: Dinner and a movie at Mrs. Fowler's on Sunday night at 6:30.
Read both short stories on your handouts. Please research any geographical
locations mentioned in the stories.

5th/6th History: Chapter 26 for class.
Parents, please make an effort to try to at least read the omitted chapters
at home.We will not finish the book, if we do not plan the remainder of the
year like this.

Mrs. Fowler's assignments

As we celebrate the day of love, please remember the greatest love given for you. God gave his only Son that you might receive eternal life.
I pray that you all understand that love and accept it.

Literature: You guys did a great job with " In Flanders Fields". I am proud of you.
Please use the work you have started and write your 5 paragraph essay .
Please remember it should be autobiographical in nature, but not a chronological
account of your life. Write about an event, a memory, or a funny thing that has
happened.
Your next book for lit is The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom.

What a nice day at school. I was so thankful for the way you all came prepared today. We have to keep pressing forward in these pre-spring months.


7th/8th History: Read pages 178- 204 in Hitler. Please keep your timeline current.
Also, please bring your maps back to class.

Literature: You will be responsible for reciting " In Flanders Fields" by John
Mc Crae.
Find three songs written during the war. Please get the link to me or have it
ready in class. Please dig deep in your research about the artist and the
popularity of the song. Identify your song as pro/anti war; and whether
it is propaganda.
Find one dance made popular during the Great War.

5th/6th/ History: Quiz on states and capitals from Louisiana to New York
Read Chapter 21 of SOW.
Find one dance made popular by the music of the time.

Mrs. Fowler's assignments

It was a nice day today . Mr. Charles Aimar blessed us with an oral history of Beaufort through his eyes and lifetime. Many of us do not take the time to learn from those have had experiences that we have not enjoyed. It was fun to hear of his childhood and the way Beaufort has changed over the years.

7th/8th History: Please make sure your timeline is up to date.
Understanding Hitler's movements are essential.
Research and copy( with printer) a map of Hitler's early movements.
These should include Rhineland, Austria,
Czechoslovakia, Poland, Denmark, Norway. Please either copy and note
the date OR draw a map and do the same.

Literature: Mark your calendars for dinner and a movie at Mrs. Fowler's!
February 21 at 6:30.
Research and find three poems written between 1914 and 1918. The poets do not have to be Americans.
1. One written during the time period.
2. One written from the trenches.
3. One written as propaganda.
Find one song that you enjoy from the WWI era. You may include hymns. If you would like to send me you links, we will try to hear them in class.
Work on memorization of "In Flanders Fields". Due Feb. 9.

5th/6th History: Read Chapter 20 of SOW.
