Mrs. Fowler's assignments

We talked about the quote" Whatever you do in life- echoes in eternity."
Think about it a little more. Do you agree? Why? Why not?

7th/8th Literature: Write a 5 paragraph biographical essay on Alvin York. Please use the specifications we talked about in class.
Bring a copy of John McCrae's " In Flander's Fields" to class. You will be
memorizing this poem, so you may want to get started.

7th/8th History: We will have a special guest in class. Please take a moment to research the American Great Depression. I know we touched on Black Tuesday, but he will give you a first hand account of the way the Depression hit his family and those he knew. You are in for a treat!
Read pages 139-177 in Hitler.
Please keep your timeline current.

5th/6th History: We created a wonderful board game today with our question cards. I was so impressed with your creativity. Luke and Spencer, we missed you and will play the game on
Tuesday.
Read Chapter 19 of SOW.
Work on states and capitals Louisiana through New York.

These are your assignments:

7th/8th History: Read pages 99-138 in Hitler.
You should be keeping an on going timeline.


Literature: Finish reading SY.
Please be sure you have a working statement for your 5 paragraph essay.
This should be a broad statement that will work as your thesis statement.

5th/6th History: Work on States and capitals from Louisiana to New York.
We will be working on our game board in class.

Read pages 65-98 in Hitler.
We will finish the timeline that was begun in class.

Literature: Read pages to page 176 in SY.
If you have not written your autobiographical broad statement, please do so.
Keep all autobiographical work together in notebook.

5th/6th History: Read Chapter 18 and prepare game cards.
Quiz on States and capitals Alabama- Kentucky.
You will need to plot these states on a US map.

7th/8th History: Write a one page ( single spaced) paper on a character quality of T. Roosevelt. Please limit your paper and stick to truth, not myth.
Please support your selection with examples.
