Greetings!
I trust you are all having a great summer. I love the hot weather and the flowers. I am even growing veggies on my deck, so I have been having a nice summer so far.
I cannot emphasize enough to you how important it is that you read, read, read! You will learn a lot of new facts, enjoy new characters, and increase many skills. Take advantage of this time.
The first summer read for sixth grade is William Bradford:Plymouth's Faithful Pilgrim. This is a great book to introduce the historical time period that we plan to study.
It was written by Gary Schmidt and the ISBN # is 97-0-802805148-2.
As you read the book, please write down the name of every character that is introduced, then write a brief description of that character. Also, write a brief summary of each chapter.
When school begins we will discuss the book and you will take a test with an essay. Please keep all of your comments and summaries in one notebook.
************ NEW ENTRY********
I would also like you to read Adventures of Don Quixote (A Dover's Children's Thrift Classic) by Argentina Palacios. The ISBN # is 0-486-40791-8. Please write a one page summary telling me why you enjoyed the book. This should be handwritten.
Y0ur third and final summer read is Night-birds on Nantucket by Joan Aiken. The ISBN is 13: 978-0395971857. Please write a one page summary on this book also. Include a major character and why he or she was important to the book. This report should also be handwritten.
Please contact me by email at srfowler79@gmail.com if you have any questions or concerns. I would also just like to hear from you.
God bless,
Mrs. Fowler
P.S. I am praying for each of you.
